1st February, 2002 - 2002 West Yorkshire Karting Series cancelled.

After failing to attract race season commitments from other teams, the West Yorkshire Karting Series has announced that the Championship will not be held this year. Only 2 teams, including Team DAN, were confirmed at the entry deadline yesterday which is below the minimum required to make the season viable. Team DAN Competition regret that we will be unable to compete once again in this series which we have supported since its conception in three years ago. Our team will now carefully consider the various options & proposals available to us before decidng how best to move forward in the year ahead.

21st October, 2001 - Daniel secures third successive drivers championship.

Daniel King overcame his recent run of bad luck in the best possible way with a victory at the F1 Indoor Karting circuit in Wakefield. Daniel started second behind championship favorite Lee Tearle, but closed the gap over the first ten laps to reel in the race leader. Daniel then took the lead at turn one when Lee slid wide and pulled out a lead with was unassailable. with a 5 point lead, Lee needed only to finish in second position to take this years title, but 15 laps from the end Lee began to suffer with a misfire, which allowed both Richard King and Robert King through to fill the remaining podium places.

Lee's fourth position was enough to enable him to finish second in the championship with three wins from five races this season, just 2 points behind Daniel's winning score of 35. Richard King is 9 points behind the championship winner after a very consistant year in which he was the only driver to finish on the podium in every race. Rookie driver Robert King enjoyed a successful first championship year, scoring three podium finishes.

The Team DAN administered Mirage group of Richard King and Lee Tearle have won the WYKS Teams Championship by 12 points.

20th October, 2001 - Robert confirmed for next year, Mirage to seperate.

Robert King has been confirmed for a second year with Team DAN, signing to drive until the end of 2002 alongside Daniel King. Robert will be given equal status next year, which will be his third year of karting. Team manager and driver Daniel said: "Robert has shown excellant potential this year and is most definately a star of the future. It is my hope that his future will be with Team DAN, so I am happy to extend our partnership for another year." In seperate news, the Mirage group will become independant of Team DAN support next year as Richard King will manage the team alone. Lee Tearle is contracted to Team DAN Competition until the end of the year and has yet to commence negotiations for next year with any team.

1st October, 2001 - Season shortened

The sixth and final round of the 2001 West Yorkshire Karting Series, scheduled to take place at the Pole Position circuit in Bradford, has been cancelled due to a lack of entries. This means that the final round of the season will be the next race at the F1 Indoor Karting circuit in Wakefield on October 21st.

5th August, 2001 - Lee Scores Third Win in a Row

After 60 laps of the Leeds/Bradford Indoor Karting circuit, Lee Tearle won his third race in a row for the Mirage group, propelling him into the championship lead. The story of the race was a titanic battle between Daniel and Richard King for second place. Lee took the lead on lap 4 from Daniel who started from pole position and was struggling with a lack of grip on the tight and twisty track. Richard immediately put on the pressure for second place, but was consistantly held off for the remaining 56 laps. With Lee in a strong lead, Daniel was desperate to minimise his points defeict in the championship. After the race, Daniel told us "That was easily the hardest race I have ever had. Richard was pressuring me for the whole race and we had a few wheel banging moments, but I really couldn't afford to be third here." Lee now leads the championship by 5 points with two races to run. A victory in the next event will secure the title before the end of the season.

17th June, 2001 - Mirage group finish 1-2 at Leeds

Lee Tearle led team mate Richard King to the Mirage group's first ever 1-2 finish at the outdoor Kart Skill circuit in Leeds. Robert King was third on his Team DAN debut. Championship leader Daniel King suffered from a misfiring engine which caused him to drop quickly to third place with poor accelleration. He latter withdrew when his chassis split on the start-finish straight. Daniel said "it's unfortunate that I was forced out of contention with a mechanical problem, but it's not the first time something like this has happened to me. It's a shame because this is one of the best circuits we go to and I was really looking forward to racing here." Lee and Daniel are now seperated by 1 point in the drivers championship, with Richard just 4 points behind Lee.

6th May, 2001 - Robert King promoted to second race seat

Team DAN kart test driver Robert King will replace Melanie King for the remaining races of the 2001 WYKS season. Robert impressed us after standing in for Lee Tearle at Bradford, finishing 3rd. Robert also entered the previous round with private funding from Team DAN sponsor KFS, finishing ahead of Melanie. Robert commented: "I am delighted to be given this opportunity to race for Team DAN and I look forward to improving my performance with the team."

21st April, 2001 - Tearle takes win at round 2 come back

Lee Tearle returned to the Mirage team after missing the previous 2 races to take a strong victory ahead of championship leader Daniel King at the Meltham circuit. After settling back in for the inital laps, Lee came through from 5th to pass race leader Daniel King in traffic with 10 minutes remaining. Lee then pulled out half a lap before taking the win which kickstarted his championship challenge. Richard King finished third, while Melanie King brought her kart home in fifth place.

4th March, 2001 - Daniel starts season with dominant victory

2000 drivers champion Daniel King started the season with a strong performance at the Pole Position circuit in Bradford, taking the chequered flag three laps ahead of his brother and previous winner Richard King who made his debut for the Mirage team as Driver / Manager. Lee Tearle was unable to race because of a prior commitment and he was replaced by test driver Robert King, who finished on the podium in his first race. Daniel's team Melanie King, finished fourth on her debut for the team.

18th January, 2001 - Melanie joins for 2001 season

Team DAN Competition has completed its driver line-ups for the 2001 West Yorkshire Karting Series. We are delighted to announce that Melanie King will be entered alongside reigning champion Daniel King in the first team, which will be entered this year as Team DAN. Melanie was our offical test driver during the 2000 season and was entered into the sixth round of the championship at Wakefield where she qualified and finished fifth. Our second team will be entered as Mirage and will be managed this year by Richard King, who will also drive for the team. He will be partnered by Lee Tearle, who will race for a third season in the Mirage group. Our aim is to retain both the Teams and Drivers championships which we have won for the past 2 years. We have retained the top three drivers from last season, and we feel that the team arrangement which we have decided upon will best enable us to achieve our goal.

16th November, 2000 - Andrew Announces Retirement

Andrew Foley has announced his retirement from kart racing today. Although he has a contract until the end of the year, the team has agreed to end our association with the driver when he announced his intention to leave early. Andrew will be replaced in the Mirage team for the final race of the season by our test driver, Melanie King. Team DAN director Daniel King said of the situation "Andrew came to the team following a very successful 1999 season, but he hasn't been able to perform at the same level with us this year. It is regretable that he has decided to take this action when the teams championship is still undecided between us and that his team-mate will be unable to benefit from his assistance in securing the drivers championship. However, we are a competitive racing team who demand an extreme level of commitment by all our drivers and we would not want to enter a driver who is unwilling to give 100% to their races, especially when other drivers are capable of performing to such a level."

15th October, 2000 - Team DAN drivers take championship to final round

The drivers championship will go down to the wire this season in a duel between Team DAN drivers Daniel King and Lee Tearle. Today's race at the Kart Skill outdoor circuit in Leeds saw Daniel King pull off a sensational victory, coming back through the field from half a lap down. After the race, Daniel commented, "I had a terrible start from third place and was struggling to get my tyres up to optimum temperature with the track been so damp, so Richard and Andrew managed to get past on the first laps. Then I saw Darren spin at one of the hairpins and decided to go to the inside of the corner, whereas Richard and Andrew went to the outside, so I managed to recover up to second at that point". Daniel then began closing on Lee who was struggling in the semi-damp conditions. After following his rival for several laps, Daniel outbraked Lee into the final corner to take the lead of the race. Lee's team mate Andrew Foley improved upon his recent form with a strong third place. Richard King finished a distant fourth, suffering with handling trouble on his kart. Daniel now leads the championship table by 2 points from Lee, with noboby else capable of challenging. In the teams championship, King Team DAN lead Mirage Team DAN by 60 points to 54.

3rd September, 2000 - Team DAN Secure WYKS Teams Championship

Daniel King won today's WYKS championship race at the Leeds-Bradford Indoor Kart Arena for King Team DAN, a lap ahead of second placed Lee Tearle in the Mirage Team DAN kart. Team mate Richard King was a strong third, ahead of the second Mirage driver Andrew Foley. This is our second consecutive 1-2-3-4 result and moves both our teams into a secure position in the Teams Championship ahead of the Arundel team who have 10 points in third place. With 32 possible points left to win, the Arundel team is unable to challenge for second place in the championship, currently held by the Mirage Team DAN team on 44 points, just behind King Team DAN on 47 points. Now that the Teams Championship is secure, both Team DAN groups will be free to race each other more aggresively to claim overall victory in the Drivers Championship.

18th June, 2000 - Team DAN Test Report

Three drivers participated in today's private team test session at the Kart Skill circuit in Leeds. Andrew Foley and Daniel King ran together throughout the session, concentrating on cornering technique. Meanwhile, Richard King ran seperately from his team-mates, working to his own ongoing practice programme. Air temperatures at the outdoor circuit reached 29c during the session and, with the next two championship races scheduled to take place on outdoor track during the summer, all three drivers felt that they benefited from the valuble experiance gained by driving in the hot conditions.

10th June, 2000 - Lee Tearle wins third round

The third round of the West Yorkshire Karting Series has been won today by Mirage Team DAN driver Lee Tearle, who headed home a Team DAN domination of the race, with our four karts finishing in first, second, third and fourth places. Lee started the race from pole position and for a short while looked set for a battle with championship rival Daniel King. However, Daniel lost half a lap when he was badly blocked by a backmarker for several laps, which allowed Andrew Foley to catch him. Andrew would eventually spin out from third place and lose a lap, recovering to fourth position behind Richard King, who once again drove quickly and consistantly to record another podium finish. After the race, Daniel praised all his drivers on their skillful performances during the heated races between themselves for position, and was joined by several other drivers who condemed the blocking tactics of the Arundel team. Lee Tearle now retakes the lead of the drivers championship on 22 points from Richard King on 17. Reigning champion Daniel King is one point behind on 16 points, still without a win this season, while Andrew Foley lies in fourth place with 13 points, 8 ahead of our nearest competitor. In the teams championship, team Mirage leads team King by 35 points to 33.

Richard King dominated today's WYKS race at Bradford's Pole Position Circuit, heading home a King Team DAN 1-2 along with his team mate Daniel King. Andrew Foley was third for Mirage Team DAN. Daniel King spun on the first lap and almost lost a lap, but was able to rejoin the race and eventualy enter into a titanic battle with Mirage driver Andrew Foley for second place. Lee Tearle in the other Mirage kart was well off the pace, suffering from stomach problems and would eventually finish 5th.
